One World Stage & Screen (OWSS) is please to announce that it will be offering a FREE 6-week acting class to young professional actors in the Los Angeles area, starting June 15th.
If you have a young actor in your household, school, club, etc. aged 10-15 who is working at a career in Hollywood – then please let them know about this opportunity.
This class will focus on audition technique, and will be taught by Producer-Casting Director Michael Sonntag from Studio C Artists. Michael was one of the teachers in a Fall Acting program for which OWSS offered scholarships last year. OWSS will be presenting this class free of charge to qualifying candidates who are selected – funding was made possible through private donations from a few generous donors. The course will run for six weeks, on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30pm through July 27th. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the studio in Hollywood.
More details about the acting program for kids offered at Studio C are available at http://www.institute.studiocartists.com/act_kids.html.
All interested students must complete an application for the class and submit a self-taped audition, along with a headshot and resume. (See below for attached materials and instructions.)
Students will be selected for the course based upon need and the caliber of the submission materials. Please find the Program Application with the other materials below. This application must be completed in its entirety, and turned in with the rest of the submission materials. Submissions for the program are due 6/14.
Fully prepare a monologue or scene of 2-3 minutes in length. Material should be from film, television, or theatre. Submit a self-taped audition via email (YouTube, Vimeo, etc. URL is acceptable). Cell phone video is ok too. If you have video from a previous performance (even stage), that would suffice as well.
Submit your completed application along with your self-taped audition, and a copy of your headshot and resume, to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have any questions or problems with your submission, please email or phone (323) 988-1175.
One World Stage & Screen (OWSS) is an IRS approved nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization formed to serve as a public and charitable organization, aiding disadvantaged and at-risk individuals through the performing arts. This approach offers vital knowledge, training, resources, and referrals helping individuals to identify and build sound careers. In achieving these dreams, these individuals become self-sufficient contributors to society. The performing arts can be such a positive force for change to enrich and redirect people’s lives – and yet, so many actors, writers, directors, and other creative artists don’t have access to the training and on-the-job skills necessary to forge a career on stage and screen. This is OWSS’s aim – to provide the tools necessary to these individuals so they can participate in the performing arts, when they otherwise would not have the ability to do so.
